The goal for First Response Physicians (FRP) is to have teams of doctors and nurses ready
to administer basic medical care throughout the United States when a disaster strikes.
The founding physicians of First Response Physicians established this organization after Hurricane Katrina in September of 2005 due to witnessing the
lack of immediate medical response to the evacuee shelters in Baton Rouge, the Mississippi coast and other areas that housed evacuees from Louisiana
and Mississippi. Our hope is to provide immediate, medical response to those displaced or in need after a disaster  such as hurricanes, tornadoes,
terrorist attacks, and other natural disasters. First Response Physicians’ goal is to bridge the gap of patient care from the time of disaster until Federal
aide arrives to take over the care and rehabilitation of the affected individuals.
Our relief efforts will be based
on the immediate need of the
people after a disaster strikes. A
team will be sent to the area with
a mobile clinic full of medical
supplies to sustain that team for
a least a week.
FRP plans to branch out to other
countries in the future. Areas of
Central and South America and
Africa have areas of desperate
need for medical care. Medical
missions will be set up and sent to
these and other areas in need.

In the times when our country is not
under duress from a national
tragedy FRP plans to provide
needed medical care to inner city
and underprivileged areas in the
United States.
Disasters occur in every area of
the United States and at
unpredictable times. FRP will have
teams of physicians and nurses
from the regional area that will
serve as relief teams. Each team
will be geographically dispersed.
As our operations grow, we hope
to establish full autonomy with the
United States government to
enable FRP to activate
immediately without waiting for
deployment from the government.
FRP will establish emergency medical privileges in the state where
the disaster occurs so that each volunteer's personal insurance
will cover any liabilities they would incur on an individual basis.
Even though it is covered by the individual's malpractice
insurance, the Good Samaritan act also provides protection.
